The New Orleans Saints beat the Dallas Cowboys in a 44-19 match on Sunday the 15th; the Federal Emergency Management Agency, FEMA for short, accidentally issued a press release declaring the event a “major disaster” yesterday.
The original release said, “FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance is available to the state of Texas to supplement recovery efforts in the areas affected by the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 15, 2024.”
The release went on to say, “The President’s action makes federal funding available to affected individuals in Dallas, Fort Worth, Rockwall, Tarrant, and Denton counties. Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and business owners from the effects of the disaster.”
The release went on to provide actual website links, telephone numbers, and contact names of people that would help in the response of a disaster.
In a follow-up release, FEMA said the major disaster press release was issued in error. They wrote, “Today, the FEMA Press Office inadvertently sent an email to be used for training purposes only. We apologize for any inconvenience. Please direct any questions to the FEMA Press Office.”
