A 6.1 earthquake struck off the coast of Japan earlier today, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The earthquake caused no known damage and was about 281 kilometers away from the coast.
The quake struck less than 24 hours after a 7.1-magnitude pummeled Mexico City in Mexico. The 6.1-magnitude quake struck roughly 175 miles east of the shuttered Fukushima nuclear plant at roughly 2:30 a.m. local time. The hypocenter, the underwater focus of the quake, occurred at a depth of about 6 miles.
