The National Weather Service office in Los Angeles says there’s a chance of tornadoes around the metro Los Angeles area over the next few hours.
“Monitor the latest on the weather over the next several hours,” the Los Angeles National Weather Service office wrote on X a short time ago. “There is a very low chance of a weak tornado developing with any showers and thunderstorms across southern and central Los Angeles County,” they add. “Be weather aware. If winds increase suddenly, go indoors.”

An upper level low was centered just south of Point Conception this
morning is forecast to move over Ventura and Los Angeles Counties early this afternoon and east of the region by late afternoon. As it moves over the area, cyclonic flow aloft combined with additional instability due to solar heating will continue to develop showers and widely scattered thunderstorms over the forecast area through this afternoon.
The National Weather Service says flooding concerns remain in place due to high intensity rainfall potential. In addition, conditions remain favorable for potential severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and even the small chance of a brief, weak waterspout or tornado.
