Tsunami Warnings and Watches have been issued for the U.S. West Coast, Hawaii, and Alaska following a strong 8.0 earthquake that struck a short time ago.

 

According to USGS, a massive 8.7 magnitude earthquake has struck 80 miles east-southeast from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia; earthquakes of this incredible magnitude have the potential for catastrophic impacts at the epicenter as well as significant tsunami great distances away.

 

A TSUNAMI WARNING has been issued for all of Hawaii and the western half of coastal Alaska. A TSUNAMI WATCH is in effect for the eastern half of Alaska’s coast, the entire Canadian west coast, and the entire U.S. west coast.
