KTLA-TV weatherman Mark Kriski is recovering from a stroke he suffered at the end of May and his wife says he may soon be home from the hospital. The Los Angeles television station he works for released an update on May 29, saying Kriski had suffered from a mild stroke earlier that week.
“He is getting the best medical care and looks forward to being back with the team soon,” reported Christine Samra from KTLA on their weatherman’s prognosis. “All of us at KTLA are thinking of Mark and his family at this time and look forward to seeing him soon.”
Mark Kriski has been with KTLA since 1991, earning 9 Emmys for his weather broadcasts on the KTLA Morning News program.
Kriski is married to Jennifer Gould, who has been providing updates on her husband’s status on X. Gould was also with the KTLA Morning News team but is now a True Crime Correspondent/Expert for Investigation Discovery, aka ID. On the sixth of June, Gould wrote that her husband “…continues to recover and is doing physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy. And he is kicking ass…upbeat and getting better.” On Saturday, Gould added a new update: “SOMEONE IS COMING HOME NEXT WEEK!!!” saying that they received a targeted discharge date from the hospital for Kriski.
Kriski is originally from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, where he studied radio and television arts at Fanshaw College in London, Ontario. His first broadcast job after graduating college was with Canada’s “Weather Channel” known as The Weather Network.
Beyond being a television weatherman, Kriski has also appeared in many motion pictures as a newscaster or weatherman, including in Speed and Speed 2. The LA Times has previously named Kriski as the “Funniest Weatherman in Los Angeles.”
