The National Hurricane Center (NHC)  in Miami, Florida is monitoring a new disturbance coming off the coast of Africa for potential tropical cyclone development.

According to the latest Tropical Outlook from the NHC, the tropical wave near the coast of Africa is expected to move westward across the tropical Atlantic for the next several days. Some development of this system is possible when it reaches the western tropical Atlantic early next week. The NHC says they’re a near zero percent chance of storm formation over the next 48 hours, but those odds grow to at least 20% over the next 5 days.

In 5 days, this disturbance should be in the area that Tropical Storm Gonzalo is in today.
