Delta, which struck the coast of Louisiana on Friday as a Category 2 hurricane, has weakened dramatically to a basic post-tropical cyclone. Centered roughly 90 miles south of Knoxville, Tennessee,  the system is moving to the east at about 15 mph.

Post-Tropical Cyclone Delta is forecast to continue moving to the east tonight and tomorrow morning at around 15 mph. A new surface low is expected to form near the Carolinas and Delta’s surface low is expected to be absorbed by this new low tomorrow. For now, Delta’s maximum sustained winds are only 15 mph with some higher gusts. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1008 mb.

Delta will bring welcome soaking rains to the Mid Atlantic, with New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland seeing the most. There, 1-3″ is generally expected with some isolated heavier amounts. While localized and isolated flash and urban flooding is possible, widespread flooding is not expected due to the dry conditions experienced by this region recently.
