After a record-breaking early sixth-named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season which ended with a landfalling tropical cyclone on the New Jersey Shore, the Atlantic is quiet again in Tropical Storm Fay’s wake.

In the latest Tropical Outlook from the Miami, Florida – based National Hurricane Center, no tropical cyclones of any kind are expected anywhere in the Atlantic hurricane basin over the next 5 days.

While things are quiet for now, tropical meteorologists are concerned about returning to a much above normal season with more than a dozen named storms forecast over the coming months. During the week, one such panel of experts at CSU released an updated forecast calling for even more named storms in the basin.

The 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season runs until November 30.
