All eyes are on Major Category 5 Hurricane Irma as it barrels through the Bahamas on its way to Florida; while it continues on its track of devastation, meteorologists are also concerned about Jose which became a Major Hurricane today.

The government of Cuba has issued a Hurricane Warning for the Cuban provinces of Camaguey, Ciego de Avila, Sancti Spiritus, and Villa Clara. This includes the Cuban Keys along the north shore of these provinces. These warnings join many others in effect for Irma at this time.

Additionally, Hurricane Watches have been posted for Antigua and Barbuda, islands that saw significant destruction from Hurricane Irma. Hurricane Jose, now a Major Hurricane, has maximum sustained winds of 120mph, making it a powerful Categoy 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson wind scale.

With storm force winds expected by the National Hurricane Center by Saturday morning, it is important that everyone be wrapped up with their storm preparations and evacuations by tomorrow evening. It will become difficult to move around in tropical storm force winds; many communities have also announced that first responders won’t respond to situations in tropical storm force winds or above until it is safe to go outside.
