Frost may appear on pumpkins and other Halloween decorations that are outside tonight. With temperatures dropping to freezing or less tonight, the National Weather Service is in the process of issuing advisories where a killing frost or freeze may occur.

According to the National Weather Service, frost could kill or damage sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered. They urge people in the advisory areas to take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.  Damage to sensitive vegetation is possible tonight.

Temperatures will be colder in Freeze Warning areas than in Frost Advisory areas. Beyond taking steps now to protect tender plants from the cold, the National Weather Service advises that outdoor popes would be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly to prevent freezing and possible bursting of  pipes. The National Weather Service also cautions that those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above- ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
