According to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Lorenzo dissipated today roughly 1,300 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands in the Central Atlantic. More importantly, this means the National Hurricane Center isn’t tracking any active threat anywhere in the basin. Additionally, they expect no tropical cyclone basin development for at least the next 7 days.
While some long range computer forecast guidance has suggested conditions may be favorable in about a week for tropical cyclone development in the Caribbean, the National Hurricane Center said in today’s Tropical Outlook that there’s no threat of tropical cyclone formation for the next week.

The Atlantic hurricane season began on June 1 and continues through to November 30. There have been 12 named tropical cyclones in the basin this season thus far. Should another tropical cyclone develop into a tropical storm or subtropical storm, it would be given the name Melissa.
