Detroit CBS62’s  meteorologist  April Moss  was fired from her job for announcing during a weathercast last week that she was going to expose the “discrimination CBS was enforcing on its employees.” She didn’t elaborate on what the source of discrimination was, only to add that she would reveal more through Project Veritas.

Project Veritas is an activist group which uses secret recordings in an effort to discredit mainstream media organizations.  Some believe the group deceptively edits videos to make its point.

A spokesperson for Project Veritas told reporters, “We are observing a movement of inspired media insiders coming forward, and more insiders will be compelled to speak out against corruption and wrongdoing in the very near future.”

A spokesperson for WWJ-TV, Moss’s employer, said the issue isn’t about discrimination, but of pandemic-related policies at the station.

“April Moss objected to WWJ-TV’s policies regarding COVID-19 testing and wearing masks inside our station, which are based on CDC, state, and local guidelines,” a spokesman from CBS 62 told reporters.

The spokesman added: “Any suggestion that she was in any way a victim of ‘discrimination’ due to her concerns about these policies is completely false. In fact, we allowed April to perform her weather anchor duties from home as we explored her concerns.”

In a video clip of her off-script moment, Moss appears to be working from home for the news broadcast.

Moss is the second television news personality to lose their job in the last week for going off-script on TV. Houston’s Fox 26’s Ivory Hecker announced she was going to Project Veritas with secret recordings from her station. Hecker accused her former employer of “muzzling”stories she wanted the station to air.

On a fundraising site, Moss has since wrote, “I felt led to stand up to the medical discrimination that was being enforced by ViacomCBS on its employees. The mandate for any individual to be tested for COVID19 for employment or participating at a university or other institution violates federal law. My hope is that others who are faced with similar situations in their workplace can find the strength and courage to stand up for their God given rights.”

Moss had worked for the CBS affiliate in Detroit as a weather forecaster and reporter since April 2012.
