The National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami, Florida continues to monitor an area of disturbed weather in the central Atlantic just south and east of Bermuda for signs of possible tropical cyclone formation. Beyond that area, the NHC says it is unlikely any tropical cyclone will develop anywhere in the Atlantic Hurricane Basin for at least the next 7 days.

In the latest Tropical Outlook from the National Hurricane Center, they write, “A trough of low pressure located about 700 miles east-southeast of Bermuda continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions are forecast to become a little more conducive for development in a couple of days while the system moves slowly westward to west-northwestward over the subtropical Atlantic.”

While there’s a chance of formation, the odds remain low. According to the NHC, there’s a near-zero chance of formation over the next 48 hours and only 30% over the next 7 days.

In the meantime, the NHC will monitor this area and the entire basin for any tropical cyclone activity.
