A disturbance near the Mid Atlantic coast is unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone this week. According to the latest Tropical Outlook issued by the National Hurricane Center in Miami, an area they’re monitoring off the Carolina coast probably won’t develop into a tropical depression, tropical storm, or worse.

“An area of low pressure is expected to form on Saturday along a frontal system off of the southeastern coast of the United States,” says the National Hurricane Center in their updated outlook. They add, “Additional slow development could occur through early next week as the system moves slowly east-northeastward.”

However, the National Hurricane Center believes any chances of development are very low. According to the Tropical Outlook, there is only a 10% chance of formation over the next 48 hours and only a 20% chance of formation over the next 7 days.

The Atlantic Hurricane Season started on June 1 and runs through to November 30.

Beyond the area being tracked off the U.S. East Coast, the NHC isn’t concerned about any other area developing into a tropical cyclone across the entire basin over the next 7 days.
