
A strong nor’easter continues to push north and east away from the northeastern United States, but not before bringing about wind and flood damage to parts of the coast. New Jersey was one of the hardest hit by the storm this morning, with storm surge flooding and power outages due to strong winds a common problem. Utility providers in the Garden State say more than 20,000 homes are without power due to the storm.

Storm surge flooding became apparent along the Jersey Shore, with flooding bad in Wildwood, NJ on the southern shore to Perth Amboy on the Raritan Bay. The greatest threat of coastal flooding has passed with winds changing direction and the storm moving away.
Winds will also diminish quickly as the nor’easter departs. Winds were very strong this morning, ranking at solid tropical storm force strength. Some peak winds today:
