Just weeks after announcing the departure of Sam Champion, the Weather Channel cable network has announced the departure of another familiar face.

Today, the Weather Channel announced that Dr. Greg Forbes will scale-back his time with the network, only working on a part-time basis for severe storm coverage. “We wanted to share that Dr. Greg Forbes has decided to scale back his full time role with us. Dr. Forbes embodies the pinnacle of expertise, service, on-air skill and personal character of The Weather Channel. While he’ll still be working with us part-time, help us congratulate The Storm Master on sharing almost 18 years with you and us,” wrote the Weather Channel in a posting to Facebook.

Forbes wrote, “I still enjoy my work here. But I turned 66 this summer and, considering my cancer scare two years ago, I think that the time has come for me to scale back on how much I work. I’d like to do some traveling while my health is good. I still plan to help with TWC severe weather coverage on a part-time basis.”

On December 30, Michael Lowry also announced his departure from the cable weather network. In a posting he made to Twitter, he wrote, “As all of us move into a new year we look towards what 2017 will bring. For me that means forging ahead into the next phase of my career. In order to make these next steps it means stepping aside from my day-to-day on-camera role at The Weather Channel.”
