A day after light snow accumulated around the Chicago metro area and southern Michigan, yet another snow-maker will be visiting the northern Continental United States. While the calendar says it’s almost May, Old Man Winter just doesn’t want to leave.
Blizzard conditions will continue to impact much of north central Montana today. Here, near zero visibility is expected at times this morning and this afternoon, especially in open areas. On average, snow accumulations of 2-5″ are expected at lower elevations with 6-12″ amounts expected in the mountains. With high winds gusting 45-60mph, some tree and power line damage is also possible.
Lighter snow will fall elsewhere across the northern states, adding to the snowfall that fell yesterday and Friday.
Some mixed precipitation is also possible across southern New England today. However, milder ground temperatures should inhibit any snowfall from accumulating in locations other than Mt. Washington in New Hampshire, where more wintry precipitation is likely to accumulate.
