Due to a significant fire weather threat, the National Weather Service has issued Red Flag Warnings for portions of northern Texas, much of Oklahoma and Kansas, southeastern Nebraska, southwestern Wyoming, southeastern Colorado, and northeastern and southwestern New Mexico.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior in the Red Flag Warning zones. The combination of gusty winds and low humidity will create critical fire weather conditions. The National Weather Service strongly discourages any outdoor burning until the fire weather threat passes.
“Contact local law/fire officials if you smell smoke or see fire,” warned the National Weather Service. They added that the most critical fire weather time is between 10 am and 10 pm today.
