The National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area of disturbed weather near the Bahamas. In their 8pm advisory, they raised the odds to 40% that a tropical cyclone will form here over the next 5 days.

A large area of cloudiness and disorganized showers located over the Bahamas and adjacent western Atlantic waters is associated with a surface trough that is interacting with an upper-level low. This area is actually related to the tail of Hurricane Nicole which continues to head northeast over the open waters of the North Atlantic.  Environmental conditions are currently unfavorable for significant development, but they could become more conducive for tropical or subtropical cyclone formation Tuesday or Wednesday when the system begins to drift northward or north northwestward.

Regardless of whether a tropical cyclone develops here or not, locally heavy rainfall is possible. More information on any tropical cyclone near the United States in the Atlantic or Pacific Basins can be found on our tropical weather page here: https://weatherboy.com/hurricanes-tropical-weather/
