After suggesting the possibility that a tropical depression could form within the Atlantic Hurricane Basin, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) has released a new Tropical Outlook that is short and sweet: the Tropical Atlantic Quiets Down.
The latest Tropical Outlook from the NHC says there’s no threat of tropical cyclone activity over the next 48 hours and it is unlikely any tropical cyclone will form over the next 5 days, through to and including August 16.. The Atlantic Basin’s last tropical cyclone was Tropical Storm Colin, which dissipated back on July 2. The last time that the Atlantic had no named storm activity between July 3 and August 16 was 1999.
The 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season runs through to the end of November.
