After a night of heavy rain, strong thunderstorms, and isolated flooding, it appears more of the same is headed back to the Garden State as fresh line of storms and showers head to New Jersey.

Last night’s heavy rain and strong thunderstorms caused problems on roads and in the air; flash floods made driving in some locations dangerous while airlines diverted jets out of the Newark airport area. United Airlines, Newark’s largest airline, diverted many Newark diverted flights to other regions not hit but strong storms and heavy rain. As an example, one flight diverted to Philadelphia while another diverted to Baltimore until rain pushed through early this morning.

More of the same can be expected tonight in New Jersey and elsewhere in the Mid Atlantic as slow-moving soaking storms and showers push east.  With the threat of more floods, the National Weather Service has issued Flash Flood Watches for much of New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania.
