A developing tropical cyclone should miss Hawaii by a considerable margin in the coming days. Nevertheless, meteorologists at the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida are closely monitoring the storm.

As of their latest update, the center of Tropical Storm Boris was located near latitude 11.2 North, longitude 137.1 West. The storm is moving toward the west near 9 mph. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph while the estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb.

According to the National Hurricane Center, the system is forecast to move  toward the west-northwest tonight with a turn back toward the west  for Friday or Friday night. While the storm did grow from a tropical depression early this morning to the tropical storm it is now,  conditions will become hostile for additional development and as such, the official forecast calls for the system to weaken over time by Friday night.

Once any tropical cyclone travels or forms beyond 140°W, the Central Pacific Hurricane Center in Honolulu, Hawaii will assume responsibility for issuing forecasts and advisories for it.

Based on the current track issued by the National Hurricane Center, the storm should pass well south of the Hawaiian Islands
