While the calendar is saying goodbye to May and hello to June’s arrival, some wintry weather may make an appearance in the northeast with some accumulating snow possible. While accumulating snow is possible in portions of New York , Maine, and Massachussetts, the best chance and the greatest amounts would be over New Hampshire, especially around Mount Washington.
While conditions in the northeast should remain generally fair through tomorrow morning, a deep upper-level low is forecast to move through Friday night into Saturday, bringing anomalously cold air for the time of year. Its passage will cause widespread showers due to the forcing and instability caused by the cold air aloft. According to the National Weather Service, snow levels will likely drop below summit levels, though any snow showers should remain in the mountains and away from the valleys. The current lowest snow levels are forecasted to drop to around 3,500 feet. Snow accumulations  are increasingly looking likely, although accumulations should be light.
Away from the mountains, cold, raw, wet, and windy conditions are expected at the coast of the Northeast, especially the Boston area where winds and rainfall amounts should be highest. The first wave should clear the coast by Saturday afternoon with another system late Sunday into Monday, kicking off the month of June with a chilly and damp start. This should be the last of wintry conditions for the northeast, with moderating, milder conditions arriving next week.
