A 5.5 earthquake struck this afternoon near the Northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge in the central part of the ocean; the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the earthquake occurred at a depth of roughly 10km at 22.110°N 45.857°W.
There does not appear to be a tsunami threat to the United States east coast, the Caribbean, or elsewhere around the Atlantic coasts in South America, Europe, or Africa.
There have been no other recent measured earthquakes in this region; should additional quakes happen, the USGS will report such.
