Drought Conditions Worsen

by Weatherboy Team Meteorologist - September 8, 2016

droughtmonitor_090816While Hurricane Hermine brought heavy rains to portions of the southeast, it did not do anything to help worsening drought conditions in the New York City metro area, Long Island, the Atlanta metro area, or southern New England where Severe to Extreme Drought conditions exist.

In the latest Drought Monitor report released today, drought conditions are expanding around the country in a relatively dry weather pattern. While an active Hurricane Season may help with drought conditions in the eastern US in the coming months, not much relief is expected over California where a prolonged extreme drought persists.
