Low pressure starved for moisture and energy will produce light snow and impact portions of the Mid Atlantic during Monday morning. Precipitation will spread from southwest to northeast this evening through the overnight and exit the east coast by Monday afternoon.
The quick-hitting storm system will put down 1-3″ of snow across portions of southern New Jersey, Delaware, and northeastern Maryland. Light snow is also possible into the New York City metro area and across Long Island and further south over northeastern Virginia including the Washington, DC area. Some isolated 4″ amounts are possible over portions of central Delaware and southwestern New Jersey but such heavier amounts will be the exception moreso than the rule.
Because of hazardous conditions this snow will create on untreated surfaces, the National Weather Service has issued Winter Weather Advisories for portions of New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia.
