The National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida is monitoring a new disturbance located in the middle of the Atlantic Hurricane Basin. Beyond this single disturbance, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) doesn’t believe any other system will develop into a tropical cyclone over the next 7 days in this basin.
According to the NHC and their latest Tropical Outlook issued today, an area of disturbed weather over the central tropical Atlantic Ocean is expected to interact with an approaching tropical wave during the next several days. The NHC says that some development of this system is possible while it approaches the Lesser Antilles during the early to middle part of next week and moves generally west-northwestward near the Greater Antilles towards the latter part of the week. For now, transformation into a tropical cyclone is expected to take a while; the NHC says there’s a near-zero chance of this system developing over the next 48 hours and only a 20% chance that it’ll develop over the next 7 days.
