While the heaviest rain from today’s soaking East Coast storm has wrapped up, the threat of flooding will linger for many days as all of that rainfall runs-off into local creeks, streams, and rivers.
The National Weather Service’s Mid Atlantic River Forecast Center believes there will be a threat of flooding to Christmas Eve for northern New Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania. It also believes flooding will be likely from now through December 23 for portions of central Maryland and northern Virginia. More flooding is possible between tomorrow and Christmas Day for north central Pennsylvania.
While some light snow or rain is possible in this area Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the day after Christmas, the flood threat is tied to heavy rain that already fell over the last 24-36 hours.
