Some tropical trouble could be brewing in the Atlantic and the National Hurricane Center is actively monitoring it.

An area of disturbed weather over the central tropical Atlantic Ocean is expected to interact with an approaching tropical wave
during the next several days. According to the National Hurricane Center, environmental conditions are forecast to become conducive for some development in a day or two, and a tropical depression could form around midweek while the system is near or over the northern Leeward Islands, Greater Antilles or southwestern Atlantic Ocean.

Over time, this system could make its way to Florida and/or the Gulf of Mexico, with impacts to the U.S. coastline a possibility in over a week.

For now, while the National Hurricane Center says there’s a near-zero chance of tropical cyclone formation over the next 48 hours, those odds are now up to 40% over the next 7 days, an increase from their last Tropical Outlook.

While this system may develop, there are no other active threats being monitored by the National Hurricane Center in the Atlantic.
