As what’s left of Cristobal merges with a non-tropical low, widespread severe thunderstorms will continue across portions of the Midwest and Ohio Valley today and tonight. Damaging thunderstorm wind gusts remain the primary threat, although a few tornadoes and severe hail are also possible, especially over eastern Michigan and Ohio.
While the greatest threat of dangerous weather will exist over Michigan and Ohio today, severe storms are also possible east into the Northeast. Strong, damaging winds will continue from parts of southeastern Lower Michigan southward to Kentucky, with less widespread severe risk as far east as Pennsylvania and New York this afternoon and evening. Portions of eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and eastern upstate New York and Vermont could also see severe storms linger into the overnight hours tonight.
