Royal Caribbean International is planning a week-long Total Eclipse Cruise and have announced a special musical performance during the eclipse. Bonnie Tyler, known for her hit “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, will sing the tune during the moment of totality on board the Oasis of the Seas cruise ship. The ship is scheduled to depart Florida on Sunday for the Caribbean.

The Solar Eclipse occurs on Monday, August 21.

Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International, which is organizing the week-long Total Eclipse Cruise, said Tyler was “a natural choice for this once-in-a-lifetime moment”.

“The eclipse of the sun lasts 2 minutes and 40 minutes, I’m told. Unlike my song. It had to be chopped about, because it was so long,” Tyler said. Tyler will perform a special eclipse version of the song with  Joe Jonas’s band DNCE, known for their own hit,” Cake By The Ocean.”

Popularity of Tyler’s song has surged in recent weeks as the eclipse approaches; it can be viewed here.
