United States Prepares for Tsunami Threats

A magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck the Mona Passage just west of Puerto Rico on October 11, 1918 and generated a tsunami with runup heights reaching 18 feet, causing extensive damage along the western and northern coasts of Puerto Rico.
